Heading to KPFA in Berkeley this afternoon to record my wee part in Kristin Cato's podcast in the making, "The Lighted Bridge." I play The French Echo in Episode I. The entire cast will be there today, and I look forward to working with everyone, seeing what each person brings to their part, learning a few new techniques, maybe. The entire script has not yet been written and we're recording bit by bit as it gets created. Afterwards Kristen has offered to buy us a drink at the chic Downtown restaurant.
About Kristin and her project, from her original recruiting ad:
“The LightedBridge is a radio drama to be distributed as a series of episodic podcasts. Kristin Cato has shown her short films Cyclone, My Soul’s Desire, and Woman with Girdle at festivals in the US and abroad. Her quadraphonic radio drama Dreaming Fire was presented in the New Media Section at the Mill Valley Film Festival and received the Ron Jacobs Award for Innovation in Sound. She has an M.F.A. in Cinema Production from San FranciscoStateUniversity and a B.A. in Semiotic s from BrownUniversity.”
Kristen is the only person I've ever met who studied Semiotics. It's one of the classes I audited when I majored in French and Anthropology at Jussieu in Paris... La Semiologie.
