It Will be Dubbed

As I mentioned, last night I auditioned with all those blondes.
We would need to be particularly expressive, but none of our words - it turns out - will ever be heard, as it will all be dubbed in Japanese!

Still, for those who showed up with a lot of obvious facial cosmetic surgery including plumped up lips - I wanted to weep. Hard to look sad, happy, enthusiastic, or anything, when your features are distorted and your nerves damaged.

There were also a lot of intense looking men there, some big, some medium, some thin, to audition for the part of this bad, bad doctor who enticed women into bad, bad cosmetic surgery trips.

My $29.99 for the wig, I figured, will pay for itself in time. No one could believe it wasn't my own hair when I showed them the Eduardo Soler photo as contrast... It's just one of those things: if they never met you before...

Everyone says these Japanese producers are fabulous. They are those funky, cool, long-haired kids you'd meet at a rock concert. The director looks like a hardened 50-year-old. Everyone loves him. It pays relatively well and the food is great, they say, and once they like you, baby, you're IN. I talked to a number of people - a 16-year-old gorgeous boy, a French woman of a certain age who teaches French in colleges in SF and English in France (an IBM wife), a 40-something plump mom from the East Bay 'burbs.... all have been working for them for months. They say it's just the most fun in the world.

Who needs tech writing when you've got Japanese TV? (My 401k?)
