Folsom Jaunt

Each audition has something in common with the last; yet each is unique. This one, for a medical video, and perhaps some live trade show work, was really just a talent round-up. I figure, anyone willing and able to drive from the Bay Area to Folsom should be offered this gig, just for showing up.... Folsom is another one of those places, like Oakland, that has no there there, other than strip malls and the famous prison. Afterwards, I found myself driving along Folsom Boulevard....would that be the boulevard of crushed dreams?

Here we had an ex-cop with a screenplay in the works based on a sordid crime; a beautiful young bright-eyed brunette masseuse who is trying out a lot of different jobs and has done outside sales, so understands rejection, she said; an attractive Roman-nosed young man getting into commercial work, who has an agent; a gray-haired oldie from New York with a long history of theater work, who just moved to the Folsom area from my old neighborhood - Manhattan's Upper West Side - to move in with his girlfriend. And Character Actress Launching.

No monologues this time, no reads. Just come in, sit down, and answer a few questions about fees, availability, and skills. The two ladies doing the casting session were warm and encouraging. They said they will decide by the end of the week and the shoot will take place soon thereafter, at an area hospital, perhaps in Tahoe. They are casting for a variety of medical types and logged the fact of my Spanish speaking for that day in our possible future when they may do the video in translation.

Just another little waiting game now...
