OMG, if you can ever help it, don't skip a week's rehearsal while the rest of the cast and crew is still at it and going strong!
Like that nasty recurring nightmare where you're late for the math exam or cannot get your golf ball tee'd off the green, if you're the one that missed a week, no one will remember til you point it out, you'll feel like a complete idjit, and you'll look like a laggard, a slow-poke, a dimwit.
I will spend all day tomorrow doubling up on my lines and blocking, in prep for Thursday's next rehearsal for "The House of Blue Leaves." I have practically the smallest part. We are rehearsing on a semi-lit stage, and it's hard to read lines or follow others' lines, or read while running! Still - there is no excuse for me not to achieve perfection, in time. Meanwhile, tonight I was up against the facts of my last week's work and rehearsals and performances of RWHC and 4-hour daily driving schedules from Mountain View to Petaluma. Most people on this set forgot no one had even shown me the theater, the ladies' room, the green room, the dressing room, the exits, or the blocking changes that had transpired since my first rehearsal, and so far, we rehearse with only 3/4 of the actors - one who is imaginary or read by a different voice, sitting off stage - a new one each rehearsal.
How can one physically follow or run after the "actor" who is not there, or react to one who has just shown up but was never even introduced to me? (I thought the new gal was in charge of props, but it turns out she plays a major role! My logical mind will overcome this...just give me a day or so. I am still in recovery from last week, and I must figure out how the butterfly flies again.
