"This play offers a raw and unflinching look at how true love exist beyond the boundaries of time and space, and can be more powerful than all of life's circumstances. This story is a shining example of living the strength and courage of truth. Truth beyond reason. Truth beyond doubt. I realized how you have to be willing to share your truth, even when others may think you are crazy, or even try to hurt you for doing so. Tell it anyway. The voice of truth will not be silenced. The spirit of truth will not be denied.
Firstborn introduces us to a family traumatized by the pain of innocence lost and stolen, yet struggling to maintain and hold on to lovely, dear and precious lives. I believe everyone can identify with the family connections, and complex designs of these characters lives. This story brings to life some of the many ways we choose to process pain. Some of us deal with it the best way we can, while others choose denial. Some choose to find peace while others dwell in rage. Some people develop cold and calloused hearts, while the best of us keep our hearts open to the spirit and warmth of undying love. Music also plays a major supporting role in this poignant story. There is a spirit that lives in the music. The spirit can speak to those that open up their hearts and minds and allow that voice to be heard.
I am the firstborn living child of my family. Like many of us, I have carried with me some of the hurt, pain and traumas of the past. Through my own life experience, I have learned the power of letting go, and finding peace in the purpose of all of life's lessons. I thank the writer and producers of Firstborn for being committed to sharing these stories, and promoting the awareness that can create positive change. I wish that I could help heal the pain of every young girl or woman who has been scarred for live by the abuse of perceived power. What I know now is that each one of us has our own journey to travel this lifetime. I will continue to support all of my sisters, daughters and friends in their self healing, and give as much love as I can to make the journey that much more sweet.
I wish continued success and growth for this show. May many more audiences be blessed with the opportunity open up their hearts, and find healing for their souls."
