First Rehearal for The 91 Owl

No doubt I will become an owl during the month of June, based on my new rehearsal schedule, which is late evening in SF. I am not complaining, as I work full days, and it's good to have a break between my two lives, and avoiding bad highway commute traffic is a must.

Tonight I did a combination reading, casting, and rehearsal. I may be playing three characters, or I may be two. One of the things I loved, was hearing from our director, Gregg Hood, that I was not as good as the old Mexican woman as I was as the businesswoman, during my audition last week. Confirming what I myself had thought and written about the other day...

My newest potential role? As the Evangelist! Written for a man. Now possibly for me to rework and develop in my own way.

Love working with Gregg. He is a solid director, understands character development, and he really listens, too, keying in on how the actors' personal lives can transform into the life of the play. Watched him working with Chi tonight, a young Chinese man who will play an old Chinese woman.

We are improvising, using the evolving script of "The 91 Owl" as a sail to hoist in the winds of performance.
