Rue McClanahan, RIP

As you probably know, Rue McClanahan passed away on June 3rd. She had it hard the last couple of years. With breast cancer under control, she then had a minor stroke, recovered, and endured triple bypass surgery, followed by another stroke and a fatal brain hemorrhage.

Her long career in theater, television, and film built up to the outrageous comedic character she was best known for, Blanche Devereux, in "The Golden Girls." Even in my personal "Sex and the City" days in New York, I loved Rue.

Here's a list of Rue McClanahan's Emmy Nominations and Awards.

I will miss you, Rue McClanahan. You were funny, campy, outrageous, and sexy. I loved how you carried off being a lady of a certain age, with your stylish clothes, guile, and aplomb. When I heard of your passing I was really sad all day. Actually, it made me feel kind of fragile, too.
