It's getting complicated

Louise Brooks in G.W. Pabst's "Diary of a Lost Girl."
This must be my comeuppance for leaving the last play, "The 91 Owl." Got a call late last night from the playwright, and she told me that yesterday all the other actors and the director quit! So, I am hanging in, waiting to hear what's next, and won't know if our schedule is real or not til she confirms. She has signed a contract with the theater for the show dates, so she has to do her best to adhere to them. The gal cast as the lead kind of started the downspin when she talked to her manager who told her nobody would come down to Long Beach to see this play. I don't know what motivated the rest of the cast to jump ship, but I can guess: the teensy weensy black box venue is in a downer neighborhood, the play is a dark comedy that will rely heavily on actors to carry it, and the first director was so young, she looked like a teenager.

But I'm an optimist, or I wouldn't be sitting here writing this blog! How could things fall together so nicely ... that my cousins would open their home to me in Long Beach, that my contract would conclude in Silicon Valley just in time for this production, and that I have the fluidity in my life to go down to LA ... where I'm newly signed with a commercial agent, and poke around and avail myself for auditions, following my 2010 plan?
