A lost weekend

Sometimes a booking can take on a life of its own. You get your head totally wrapped around what the gig would be, how to prepare for it as actress, and then you make your arrangements to get to the set. The past few days have been a swirl of maybes - with the staggering background of what's been going on in Japan adding to my discomfort and sense of vulnerability.

An L.A. project was offered to me Thursday evening, but the production never got back to me in time to allow me to make travel arrangements from the East Bay to L.A. It was three days of maybes and in the end it was irritating and draining. I knew I'd absolutely have to leave no later than Sunday morning to get to the hotel that evening, driving within the speed limit, and I didn't get the facts in time.

But, no, it has not dissuaded me from keeping myself in play in the southland. The day will come when things will fall into place - the right producer, the right director, the correct timing, etc.

Nice that this morning I got an audition booking in San Francisco this week. At least I know where and when I will be and what I will wear, in advance.

So - call me a prima dona.
