Yes, I guess I'm an adrenalin junkie, and Yes, I got the part! Soon I will be shooting my first infomercial in Spanish. I auditioned yesterday in L.A., for two roles. I offered to do them in Spanish. They took me up on it. This required my giving a loose interpretation of the existing English-language scripts (I hate to translate on the spot like that). The director then asked me to tell a couple of short stories in Spanish. I tripped up, as there was a key concept I did not know in my non-native tongue, but I waltzed around it. Then I gave a brief video bio of my travels in Latin America.
We had this major hold-up that maybe I'll tell you about next year.... It took about a day to resolve.
Home now, after driving my typical Southland journey of 800-plus miles. This included an afternoon exploration of Ventura Boulevard, much of it on foot, and boy, this place is so so so cool. But, much of it going out of business. I made an interesting connection. Photos to come.
Stopped overnight in Ventura, first time. Lovely expedition and great seafood at a beach shack last night. Creepy signage in small beach/restaurant area at night tells one to beware of leaving any belongings in vehicle. Reminds me of Spain in the 1970s.
Still overcome by the very idea of being an official Latina for two whole weeks, in the land of much competition...
