What about me?

After a dearth of auditions, which often derives from my choice to not wander down to
L A because the gig pays too little for the north to south r-t, or to not audition for the local indie feature, because it's really a student film, and that can take a lot of time and yield little in terms of decent footage, if the student ever completes their film -- I have finally had a couple of professional auditions through my agent. This includes one this morning. An absolutely perfect commercial opportunity for my type: ethnically ambiguous, not young, not thin. What made it a bit different was that they wanted this character to play a musical instrument, and I play three.

Thanks, Macy's for letting me find the perfect lapis-blue brushed suede look shirt to wear, and thanks, Matine, for making yourself available to do my hair last night.

Director Kristin (she's hard at work on Part II and new film clips for "The Lighted Bridge") took me to the Berkeley Rep for see "Chinglish" by David Henry Hwang, directed by Leigh Silverman, the other night. Well worthwhile if you're interested in Chinese-American relations these days. Clever, funny, and fabulous sets. But, it did not grab my soul, as content is fairly superficial. Check out clips at

More theater for me this weekend!
