It was stills, after all...

I spent a little more than an hour staring above a similar view.
The "video shoot" turned out to be stills. On this rainy day in San Jose, I modeled for a woman who was involved in a pick-up truck accident, and I felt like Max Headroom, with all the measuring going on. This was absolutely the least demanding project I have ever had, in any realm! I got paid for 4 hours at a decent rate, and the check was cut then and there.

All in a day's work

For the DistaSense video, they had me in a lovely Tesla.
Got a call for a video project today. The main thing they want, is to cast someone of my age, height, and weight, for legal reasons. This will not be Academy-Award winning material. Rarely are producers looking for exactly my type! So, I recalled a video shot nearly a year ago, featuring the unvarnished me. Produced and directed by Dan Carlson for DistaSense, as a crowdfunding video, to garner support for a new app. The surviving clips of me show a housewife using the new technology around her home. Full house in North Beach

Imagine this room when it's full, as it was today.
Spent a lovely afternoon in North Beach....read for 2 roles in a tech company video and met some lovely actors and saw two that I already knew. This is what's great about our small actors' community in the Bay Area. In the Mother of all Coincidences, actor/painter Rajiv was at the audition today and he was also cast in the video I shot yesterday. Small world, indeed.

Afterwards, I stopped for coffee at my old standby, Cafe Roma. I am astounded that it now costs $12.25 for a large cappuccino and a pastry! Walking around, it seems lots of restaurants, like O'Reilly's, which I used to love,  are shuttered. Priced out?

For the first time in six months...

For the first time in six months, I had a starring role in a corporate video. I played the director of a retirement home in San Francisco, and I enthusiastically spoke to the camera about my amazement at the effectiveness of a new app the nursing home is using. Not a lot of lines. Considering there were barely 24 hours between the time I was notified I got the role - cast from reel and headshots - and the actual shoot this morning, I am pretty proud of myself for showing up on time, choosing the right wardrobe items, and having hair that the make-up and hair person could work with. Today's novelty was seeing that if you make my eyebrows twice as thick as they normally are, I look like a totally new person!

I am hoping to use some of this footage to rebuild my reel, which is getting a bit stale.

Looking forward to two auditions tomorrow....it may be rainy and windy, but I'll get there!

Ms. Meara on "The House of Blue Leaves"

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/24/entertainment/feat-anne-meara-dies/index.html

BB King. Ann Meara.Plus...

A lot of deaths these past few weeks. Personal ones kept me off blog, in mourning. About BB - All I can say is that, when I was a teen, he was an old man, or so I thought. How could he have only been 89 at death, now that I'm an actual old person, myself? I recommend you listen to Terri Gross's radio interview with Mr. King about how he got off the sharecropper's land and became himself.

About the magnificent and funny Ann Meara - No! No! No! She is not allowed to die! She was not only too funny as I was growing up, but she married the fab man and procreated the next fab man. Let us build her a monument!
