I fell in love with a handsome 12-string Yamaha guitar at a garage sale last week. The charming and affable seller threw in a battery operated tuner and a pick, and the guitar came in a decent hard case. I am playing daily, making progress, from A to F, so far, and getting the calluses expected on my left hand from fingering all that steel, and keeping the tenosynovitis at bay with a variety of waterworks tricks. So far, no complaints from the neighbors.
Hung out in SF with my talented podcast colleague, actor/singer/guitarist Brian the other day, and absorbed so much just watching him play, listening, and humming along...this musical interlude was long overdue. My first official lesson is Sunday.
In addition to the sensual feel of holding this incredible instrument in my arms, there's this bonus: I have now listed guitar playing as one of my skills on SF Casting. Add this to a little piano and flute, and I'm a veritable combo!
