Rehearsal Number Three

"House of Blue Leaves" off book for everyone. Margot Abbott, our director, made a little speech about that -- she did not want anyone holding onto the script. We could put them in our pockets. If we had no pockets, like the 3 nuns - we stuck them into our pants. Chris, who plays the "Man in White" and whom I met tonight for the first time - tall and handsome - suggested that perhaps having the script in the pocket so close to the spinal chord may well take the words off the page and into the brain.

It works! Maybe it worked for me because this was the first rehearsal I attended with all the actors in the room. The set is not yet built. The props are coming along. Next time, we nuns will wear long skirts, to get into the swing of things. Also, tonight we met the most mysterious person - the artistic director!

Afterwards, I scooted Maureen, Nun Number 2, into the green room, and recorded her classic normal rendition of "Ave Maria" onto my answering machine. That should help. No more Pavarotti or Charlotte Church for these little ears.
