Fusion life? Is it possible? I'm back on the job as a tech editor in Silly Valley, a really good gig. Today I got the casting invitation. If you're a follower of this blog, you may remember the audition months ago in English and Spanish in SF where I had to improvise the language based on a sketch idea for the potential food service training video. Later, there was a Mill Valley call back.
Got invited to appear in this video series today. Assuming we can work out the logistics of Character Actress Launching who is still fortunately also ensconced in the reality of freelance tech editing for a major global company, which pays the bills.
Last I heard, most of my agent Mary Tonry's actors have straight jobs. Last I heard, actors in the San Francisco Bay Area (see the S. F. Chronicle story about 5 days ago) make so little that only one percent support themselves on their acting work. One percent.
Ask why, again, can't artists be paid to do what they love?
Fortunately for me, I also love editing. But, I don't want to slow down my new career momentum. I won't.
