Who's Got time to Blog?

Received this poem yesterday from Peter Bray, who reads this blog.

Who's Got Time to Blog?

You roll through words with all the nuances and descriptions...
like a video camera on Sensuality-Pause...then roll again,
like metropolitan scenarios unfolding, every ethnic curve
and landscape rising and falling, expectations and shadows intersecting
or falling away, then the streetscape beckons,
a chocolate commercial is seen on a billboard at a distance,
an alley cat runs across the street and it's time to hit
the gym again..slowly into the water, the ripples chill
all the way up the spine, then float away, forgetting the day....

It's all I can do to do my column weekly, draft it up,
let it percolate down, steep, run through it 4-6 times,
edit, slice, dice, cut, spit out the words that I wouldn't say that way...
take it to bed in the back of my head, re-read it one more time...
SpellCheck it for the fourth time, recounting the final text,
then e-mail it off to the editor, no later than Tuesday morning,
wait to get through Thursday when he pours it
into his layout, prints it Thursday night, then go out in my robe
on Friday mornings, no earlier than 7:30
when the adult carrier flings it onto the driveway...
Have it with my morning cup of Peet's Major Dickason's Blend
and see how it looks for the first time, an in-print reading...
Who's got time to blog?? Poems fill me up
the rest of the time when not working...
and even then when working...
If I could write for a living, I'd start now
and never look back...
