Went to Book Passages in Corte Madera tonight with my friend Toni to hear an excellent Louisiana journalist, Wilbert Rideau, read from his new book about his life in prison, In the Place of Justice: A Story of Punishment and Deliverance (Alfred A. Knopf 2010). Forty-four years at Angola and he lived to tell the story and comment on the prison system, from the inside out.
I bought it and will read it and already, from tonight's talk and author reading, I feel that Rideau the elder could be played by Morgan Freeman in a feature film. Anybody's agent reading this?
Rideau is French for curtain. Maybe it should be a play first?
