My quote unquote daughter in the shoot did not look like me. Yes, yes, I can see how, feature by feature, a desperate casting director working only from headshots could decide we were the best matches. She, blue eyed, fairly tall, and largely voluptuous, with long straight brown hair that she tried desperately to curl. Me, brown eyed and short, with curly auburn hair, certainly not a thin person, but comparatively small. I'm sure it works just fine on camera....but, it gave this actress pause.
Call time was 5:30 and I got there almost half an hour early. I did not know in advance if this southern woman, the mother, my character, was supposed to be trailer park or middle class, or what...so I brought all sorts of wardrobe possibilities, including, what my friend who goes to Louisiana all the time, suggested, as "southern belle" dressing. They narrowed it down to a bright sweater and a different blouse for the second scene.
Well, now, y'all, that's just the beginning....
To be continued after I get my beauty sleep and process the four hours of sit crime production.
