Tomorrow's character

Today the client sent an update on the character I audition for in San Francisco tomorrow. Good thing, huh, that I didn't lock in anything too precise during preparation. I hope I will dream tonight about this poor woman who lives in an SRO and is bipolar and afraid of losing her housing and her mind.

When not acting, I'm an editor...that almost pays the rent. Today I delivered a 300-page manuscript to a longstanding client - he's a ballet dancer with a wonderful autobiography spanning 70-plus years, with themes of coming out as a gay man, spiritual wisdom, wisecracks galore, and ballet anecdotes about stars of film and dance. In a funny way, delivering this tome made me feel like an actress who has just completed her role in a long-running play!
