On the 67th anniversary of the sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis...

Photos by Marc Carlson.
Great job last night by the entire cast of "Abandoned Ship," the feature screenplay by Mike Fordyce.

Attendance not too shabby, mostly older crowd - lots of boaters, of course - and we were well fed and Mike paid us and bought us drinks afterwards at the friendly Vallejo Yacht Club bar manned by a handsome volunteer.

People came up to me afterwards to say how great my narration was, and the applause for my work was deafening. Not to say I was even near perfect: I flubbed a few words over the 3 hours, and I feel long in the tooth, literally, when I talk too long. It felt as though we were on a dock and it moved (maybe it was just the shaky platform) and our stands holding the scripts were not sturdy or steady, and at one point I felt dizzy, and I could not read without my glasses after the first 15 minutes. Plus, my feet hurt, as the arrangement on stage was for everyone to be seated except me! Next time I'll wear boat shoes.

The performance was videotaped and I can't wait to see the reel and share a snippet or two.
