Spirits soared yesterday after I got the call I am always awaiting: my agent booked me for the diabetes video I had auditioned for on Tuesday at Nancy Hayes Casting. We shoot next week. The pay is decent.
Back story: all last year I spent a ton of time and expense on my hair, to make sure I'd always be audition ready. That even meant, to my detriment, cutting out swimming, which I love to do daily in the summer, but kills my hair. Last year I hardly booked a thing.
For this audition, I had colored my own hair - and it's a too-bright red, I think - and even clipped it a bit. Have my own method now, too, for setting it and blowing it out to replicate the hot-iron smoothie.
My hairdresser has been worried about me, as I've ramped down my visits. I assured her I'll be back soon for maintenance. How about the afternoon before this shoot?
The audition required bringing in some mood and sensitivity. Weekly workshop rehearsals for "Marius" with our talented director, Roland David Valayre, have really helped me tune in to my vocal range.
More auditions, please!
