The quick round-up: I've been cast in a local French cabaret, to be performed at a private club, in the role of Madame Danielle Mitterand. I'll be reading from interviews from a book, so, as the kids say, "No worries." But, character development is primarily on my mind, so I've been doing research. My director thinks I'm nuts, getting all excited about a five-minute piece. So, I'm nuts, then. As I told her, "Enthusiasm is one of my signature traits." I also have to sing along in French with the rest of the cast. Sheet music, moi? Mais, oui!
Why haven't you heard from me, then? Because life has been busy, and not all of it has to do with my thespian virtues.
I went to see the three short plays at the Live Oak Theater in Berkeley, which I auditioned for a couple of months ago, "Relatively Speaking," by Allen, May, and Coen, and was bedazzled by the tightly synchronized cast, including my fellow thespian, Bruce Kaplan, in a minor role that he made major.
Fun audition this week - for a satirical "The Office" kind of piece, as a Latina office manager. No matter what, I will have fun.
