Six days to showtime for CABARET CREME. We have a full repertoire. Our trio rehearsals have gone well for "Le Tourbillon de la Vie," but there are a lot of other tunes for the ensemble to memorize, not the least of which are "La Seine," "La Vie en Rose," and "La Marseillaise." Handling it all with other life events becomes a bit of a juggling act, as usual. This week, in addition to the musical details, I'm hoping to polish our look with some stellar wardrobe choices honoring Jeanne Moreau as she looked in her charming vocalist scene in "Jules et Jim."
Our new program designed by my friend Peter Bray incorporating old postcard images like the one shown here is coming along beautifully.
A videographer covered our first rehearsal a couple of weeks ago, and then decided to push it further, possibly creating a short documentary about our process and formation of CABARET CREME. So, he began by interviewing me and Judy in her lovely backyard about why we're in this cabaret: Why this song? Why now? Why we three?
Another audition in Spanish awaits this week. My time is coming.
