Pro-Active Steps

You're nothing if you're not pro-active in this world, especially these days. Yesterday I reconnected on the phone with an old colleague who had been my subject matter expert at the major school-of-hard-knocks health insurance company in downtown San Francisco where I once wrote proposals. G. is an absolute doll. I'll always remember how smart and cool she was on the job, and how the first time I saw her present in front of an audience, I loved her clear, crisp voice and calm demeanor. Well, turns out G. has been knocking around the East Bay as a health care consultant, but also taking psych classes and checking into future careers. Like voiceover work! So, when she saw my blog, she lit up. She told me all about the $45 course she and her husband (a man with a deep, manly voice) just took, and how they are anxiously awaiting the packet of stuff in the mail that will give them instructions on how to get this new career launched. We caught up on all the people we knew from "the place" and what we're up to. I offered to coach her to get her voice up to speed, and I gave her the name of the studio I've used, Command Productions in Sausalito, the place where Peter Coyote records. When G. decides she's ready to record her demo, I'll be there to direct.

Voice coaching, anyone? I'm adding it to my list of specialties.
