The Worse the Rehearsals, the Better the Show

Set for "The House of Blue Leaves" - under the
guidance of director Margot Abbott and artistic director Sue Trigg.

A friend just reminded me of the above maxim. Just in time. Last night was shaky for many of us, coming as it did after a full day of tech rehearsals and pizza, where everyone suddenly had to do a line or two from a particular scene for the lighting and audio crew. We were in full costume, and most of them are uncomfortable. Character Bunny wore a hot poly red wig right out of "Hairspray." She won't have to do that again! Running around in hot poly gowns that are a wee bit long is also not so cool for this nun. I find myself limited in motion for all sorts of reasons, including having to hold a beer while lifting my skirt so as not to trip. Need to tell Wardrobe.

I'm gonna sing a few extra "Ave Marias" this week.

Yesterday we also had a photographer on stage...that was kind of interesting - to do stage acting while a camera is clicking away in your face...luckily for the nuns, he didn't seem all that interested in us.
