Tech Rehearsal

There is something so scary about the first tech rehearsal. All that information has to be transmitted to the people upstairs, and you have to also provide a comfort zone to the actors, while having them run lines in stop and go fashion. This theater where "Firstborn" is being presented has its issues. Director Tiffany Golden is holding it together and giving us all a sense of confidence. I love the fact that she feels free to yell if she has to, while she is also soft and loving overall.

I finally had a moment with our producer, who is Swedish. I really wanted Klara Grunning-Harris to know that I have that in common with her (my dad was born in Karlskoga) - turns out both our families are from southern Sweden. She looks Asian and has no discernable accent other than American. There will be a "skol" moment eventually, I'm sure.

Lights were not as impressive as one would hope for this play - tonight. This will improve, I'm sure.

My character, Sister Jackie, got to meet one of the young girls who will act with me, a niece of the director's. I also got to try out one of my moments in the church....I'm gonna get to sing again, kids. Lordy, lord...."Wading in the water, wading in the water...."
