The word from Belmont Heights

Compressed schedule, transitional elements, and two nights of tight rehearsals for the play, "The Little Nebbish" by Eliza Gale. Our new stage manager is young and energetic, knows his stuff. Our stage is so tiny, we would do well to take good blocking notes.

First night, we read the entire play with the new cast. Second night, we blocked Act I, got a few minor rehearsal and script changes. I have a ton of lines to learn, and we only have a few weeks and five rehearsals before we open on Monday, November 29. Turns out that only one actress had quit, everyone else is committed to their roles.

It took me seven hours to come down here from the Bay Area, but in the late afternoon, it's only 15 minutes in rush-hour traffic from my cousin's house, where I stay, in Belmont Heights, to the theater. I'm one grateful actress.

I have a love interest in this one, Peter,  played by a buff actor who looks just like the young John Travolta. You shoulda seen him tonight, in his hot red muscle shirt... Nevermind that my character, Heather, is not beloved - she has a lot of fun and a lot of business, and will be wearing some outrageous clothes.
