Attention, Francophile theatrical directors

Performing my bit of "Le Tourbillon de la Vie" with the trio. Photo by Jeanne Pimentel.
The sometimes rocky dress rehearsal last night featured a couple of new CABARET CREME colleagues, Jim Jenkins and Scrumbly Koldewyn, both with Stagebridge. We had not heard them play their pieces before. Jim, who plays guitar and has his own band, doesn't speak French, so it's amazing that he's up to the challenge of singing some old French favorites. Scrumbly is a seasoned showman who accompanies himself on the piano for just about any song, and promises to bring us a lavish rendition of "Padam, Padam." It was a sneak preview and wildly entertaining.

Our new program was designed by Peter Bray of The Box Top Shop in Benicia, CA.
Everyone has improved by 50 percent, at least, since the last group rehearsal, but, since we don't have a theatrical director to keep us in line and we are democratically self directed, we can never be sure of how we really look and sound overall. This is a shout out to anyone who speaks French who may be interested in joining us in that role for the future. Our next show will be in October, for a large group at Rossmoor, and will feature some dancing. So - what a great opportunity for a theatrical director to test their skills! Be in touch with a note below under Comments if you think you've got the chops!
