Bigger, Broader, More Emphatic, Etc.

Often in an early rehearsal, we actors start out small. We are getting our minds and our vocal chords around some words, ideas, and figuring out rhythm and where we want to be part of the great cacophony. That's how it went for the actors tonight who played Chato and Jaime to my old Mexican Woman and my Mexican Evangelist. These actors have a lot of power in them, and our writer/director, Bernard Norris, brought it out.

We will know what to do when the time comes.

Tomorrow night, we have a party and read through of the entire play. Getting to know one another will be great.

I am truly impressed and excited about this: Bernard rewrote some lines for my Evangelist, which came out of a conversation he and I  had the other day about current events. I won't spoil it by telling you another thing...you will have to come see this hilarious play, "The 91 Owl," scheduled to debut the second week in July at the African American Cultural Arts Center on Fulton Street in San Fran.
