What a relief it was to arrive at tonight's rehearsal and find everyone soberly there, on time. I rehearsed my Mexican Evangelist with Bernard, mostly to rehearse the two characters who will appear with me in the scene - really, it's their scene. Then, after Elbert, the Artistic Director, took over, I was asked to go into the second rehearsal space and work with Mara, playing Girl A, on the Businesswoman scene.
Nothing outlandish or out of the ordinary happened tonight til our wardrobe mistress - decked out in a little girl mini-dress and lace-up high-heeled boots, slipped on the slick dance floor. So relieved it wasn't me! I already had a couple of inelegant arrivals weeks ago, as the door to the studio has a bit of a sudden step before you enter the room. The hazards of acting!
Did I tell you my right arm still pains me, all these months after that incident in rehearsal for "Firstborn?"
